Answer to Question: ETP5001 Language And Literacy In The Primary Years
Literature Discourse (youths discourse), Coffee Shop Discourse (youngersters discourse) and Family Discourse (family discourse) are my main types of discourses.
Some languages are used in my literature Discourse.
The literary vocabulary includes words like “poetic”, prosaic and “metaphorical”.
In class, we are expected use high quality words that can be bombastic and rarely employ conversational language.
Instead of using words like “but”, we prefer to use words such a “however”, because these words add a sense grandiosity and magnificence to our discourse.
Youngster discourse is a discourse that can be confusing to outsiders, as they aren’t aware of the language.
This discourse is most commonly used by young people, especially college students and University words. As such, it includes new words like “uber cool”, ‘friend-zone”, and “cazz”. (Fairclough, 2013).
These words are not understood by the English dictionary and have no specific meaning.
These words are used on modern-day social media platforms, and have gained popularity among the younger generation (Mccarthy, Carter 2014).
It is important that we mention that these words can also be used to denote concepts that are new to us.
Swag, for instance, refers to the subtle way an individual dresses or dresses.
The usage of new slangs and abusive terms such as “crap,” make the discourse difficult to understand by outsiders.
